Appeal

The Gandhi Mandir is run by the fund donated by the villagers and the corresponding society. Since last few years it is very difficult to run the temple by the collected fund from the villagers. Therefore the Gandhi Mandir Development Committee is unable to take proper care of the Temple. The paucity of fund stands as an obstacle on the way of repairing and maintaining the Gandhi Mandir. As a result of it rain water is leaking through the rift-roof causing damage to the walls. Even the white-washing and coloring of the Gandhi Mandir has not been done since last ten years.

The Committee is yet to be issued the record of right of the land of the Gandhi Mandir from the Tehsildar, Sambalpur, even after 32 years of its construction, though continuous efforts are on to obtain it.

The Gandhi Mandir Development Committee  has submitted a memorandum to the Central and State Governments with these proposals.

  1. 10 acres of land must be provided by the Government.

  2. A Concrete Auditorium must be constructed where the national festivals and other programs related to Mahatma Gandhi can be organized.

  3. Necessary grants to establish a Gandhi Library.

  4. Establishment of an orphanage in the name of Mahatma Gandhi with schooling and boarding facilities.

  5. A Gandhi Museum for the future generation to inform them about the works of Mahatma Gandhi.

  6. Construction of a guest house in the premises of the Mandir complex.

  7. Necessary funds for repairing of the Mandir complex.

  8. Government should take steps to create an attractive garden in the Mandir premises.

  9. The Committee also in need of recurring financial grants from the Government to carry on the day to day worship of the Mandir as well as for the celebration of 15th August (Independence Day), 26th January (Republic Day), and 2nd October (Mahatma Gandhi's Birthday).

  10. A Gandhi Foundation Research Centre can be started here to promote Mahatma Gandhi's thought and doctrines.

Lacking attention, one day this glorious Gandhi Mandir may perish from the civilization. Therefore, we appeal to the Government of India to save the Gandhi Mandir before it is ruined, where the father of nation is being worshiped by the people like Lord Ram and Lord Krishna.
